Participant@bort-bitterbeerSo as I was sitting here thinking up what to do for meals for the up coming weekender. It dawned on me. Why not start a thread where players can post their favorite camp food meals/recipes, or make suggestions for food items they would like to see and such.
What I would like to try is if you have something you like, or a recipe just post what meal catagory it would be in. Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner. Then what it is and follow with a brief description of it.
Please remember that the kitchen is limited in how meals can be prepared and how much time it takes to make the meal. Simple and easy is better.
Something like:
Lunch: Philly Cheese Steak – Sliced beef, some onions and bell peppers. Throw on the grill to heat up add some swiss cheese and place on a roll.
You can suggest an entire menu or just a single item.
I really think it will be interesting to see what everyone comes up with and it will develope a nice list of things to choose from and give ideas for other things.
As some Dinners allow we will offer the Steak upgrade option.
So post away,
Rob L.*Meal we have tried this year*

Participant@the-nameless-oneBreakfast — blueberry pancakes
Dinner — beef stew with extra potatoes, quite thick and not wateryMay 12, 2012 at 1:55 am #44479J’hunai Noquar
Participant@silmarwenI’m simple. As long as its delicious, I’ll eat it.
I’ve always enjoyed the usual beef stew option for the Friday night dinner.
Pancakes are always delicious for breakfast with eggs and hashbrowns. Mmmm.. hashbrowns. I’m not too fond of fruity pancakes so maybe have optional kinds? One dinner we did for one of the events last year was the meat, potatoes, and veggies wrapped in tin foil over a fire. I think its called hobo dinners or something. I enjoyed its deliciousness.
Additional ideas: spaghetti or tacos

Participant@paul_iverson3000While the majority of the “Orc Camp” will be doing copious amounts of meat for the weekend, it would be nice to have some salads and veggies at a weekender. I also enjoy your stew, Rob. It leaves me begging for more. I am interested in your philly steak as well.
Perhaps a good ol fashioned bbq would be killer as well?

Participant@bort-bitterbeerSo the first weekender is over and I think it went fairly well.
Now for more food ideas.
You have seen how the kitchen is currently set-up and I’m sure some of you had a craving for something, or thought of something that would have been nice to have had so let’s ad to our list.
I thought of one while cooking the Taco Soup.
Dinner or Lunch:
TACO’s! brilliant I say!Rob L.

Participant@bort-bitterbeerSadness, I just noticed that Deb had hidden tacos in with her spagetti idea. Deb = Brilliant.

Participant@bort-bitterbeerI’m begining to plan the menu for the June weekender.
If you have any ideas or requests let me know.
I would like to have it all planned out by Wednesday next week (13th).Thanks,

Participant@anjiI thought the breakfast burritos on the last weekend were wonderful, especially since rolling things in tortillas means that one doesn’t necessarily need to miss out entirely on morning modules to eat.
For the same reason, I always like the camp staple of BBQ, potatoes, onions and carrots roasted in tin foil. But I really just love baked potatoes and vote for them always.
Stroganoff or swedish meatballs would be a nice variant on spaghetti, and a good thick soup is always awesome for Friday night.

Participant@pageThings without mushrooms, also stew/chili/curry are all great hot meals. (bread bowls have been great in the past too)
Also no one would say no to steak and potatoes
On the cheap side, Burgers, Dogs, Maybe Brats, and Tacos are all great.

Participant@kariI really loved that chili verde stew that we had two years ago during the flooded weekender of sandess. So delicious!

Participant@bort-bitterbeerAnother dinner idea:
Chili Mac.
Here’s just one version I found that looked good.

Keymaster@herogoethLast year we did an option to pay extra for steak/chicken on Saturday night.
In my opinion, that was awesome.
I would totally do that again.
