    Thank you Zyra,

Lets plan on next Tuesday then. Hopefully that is far enough in advance that anyone who wants to be present can be.

To those that walk the Pale Dream,

I have arranged the introduction. Further, I expended a favor and obtained an item that will take you close to his territory when you are ready to go.

I am going to re-enter the dream at the end of next week and continue to prepare. What are you answers to the things we talked about?

    Concerning the resistance:

The current leader of the resistance (the dream version of dan Brock) has done well to build the resistance up and turn it into something that can help us thwart the Pale One. Because he understands the threat of the Pale One’s forces, he is cautious and moves slowly. This has served us well in the past, but we have an opportunity for change if we wish to take it.

His health fades (which we believe has to do with his real world counterpart being slain). With this, we have an opportunity to remove him and instill new leadership that will be more aggressive with the resistance as they are not as focused on the long term as he.

So, should I remove him and ensure one of his more brash underlings takes over?

    or

Should I use my newly regained powers to stabilize his condition so he can become a more active leader?

    Here is what we discussed:

Because the Pale One created this dream version using the original dan Brock as a template he trusts you and tends to do what you ask even when it doesn’t make sense to. There are limits to this, but this would not be the case for whoever takes his place. He also has been a source of knowledge, as he was linked to the real dan Brock and shares memories. To re-emphasize, we don’t know how the Pale One was able to link the dream version to the real version. We suspect that it was likely through dream magic and the heralds of the Dreamer.

Because he is not aware that he or the world he lives in is a dream, he is cautious with the lives of the resistance. While we should not needlessly throw their ‘lives’ away (as it could alert the Pale One’s agents), instilling someone as the leader who is more brash means that the resistance would be more willing to fight against the Pale One’s forces. We could use them if we feel open conflict is part of the plan.

    Concerning the Pale One’s Forces:

The Pale One’s plan is nearing completion. It has diverted its focus to completing the final preparations. While it is aware that outside influences have successfully infiltrated the dream, we don’t believe you have been compromised.

With its attention diverted, its servants have increased hostilities towards each other. We can also attribute some of the infighting to the demon released in the dream. I was not able to confirm if it is a real demon brought in by the Pale One or a construct of the dream.

With these renewed hostilities, places that were once well guarded are considerably less so. The circles in particular are now only guarded by the Skarren, which do not participate in the Dirt Dwarf and Troglodyte conflicts. Though there are rumors that the Skarren Shadowlord is trying to assert more authority over the Skarren Stargazer, causing a rift between the warrior and caster castes.

Should I focus on strengthening the divides between the different factions within the legion, allowing us easier access to the ritual circles? Disrupting these will restore Mystic Magic to what it should be, giving us a powerful weapon.

    or

Should I focus on learning the exact locations of the Soul Cairnes? The power that they collect will play a role in what the Pale One is attempting, and destroying them will weaken the Pale One.

If we can get them to turn on each other, it will take time for the Pale One to reassert control. This will increase our window of opportunity by forcing it to expend power and time that would otherwise go to completing the rituals and artifice needed to merge its dream to the waking world.

While we don’t know exactly how the Soul Cairnes play into the plan (aside from helping to keep the ‘people’ of this dream world under control), we do know that the energy within them will be used in the final stages of the Pale One’s plan. So destroying them will force the Pale One to move forward without that extra power.

There are risks involved. I am still not as powerful in the dream world as I am in the waking world and it is possible for me to be captured. While interrogation will have little effect, they do have the ability to mind control me and force me to fight for them. Effectively, it would be like a long term enslavement spell. So while they would not wrest my secrets from me, you would have to have a plan for how to win a fight against me.

    Concerning the Dream Magic

The final thing that needs to be answered (though this does not need to be done now, some decision should be made) is what to do about the magic the Pale One will be using to merge the Dream with the real world. The only opportunity we will have to strike at the Pale One directly will be when it is transitioning between worlds. While we do not have to do anything about the power it is using, it would greatly increase our chances of being able to do anything meaningful.

Initially, my plan was to distract the Pale One and use the magic to bring a dream version of Nos Talonos to the waking world (as I thought my sire dead).

Some of you talked about bringing someone else through, though there was back and forth on who it should be if you do so. I do not know what impact that would have or if it would be lasting in any meaningful way. My plan was far from perfect.

I’ve put my choice below, if we feel that we need to discuss them more as a group let me know.

    Concerning the resistance:

Use your newly regained powers to stabilize dan Brock’s condition so he can become a more active leader.

    Concerning the Pale One’s Forces:

I think we should focus on learning the exact locations of the Soul Cairnes.

    Concerning the Dream Magic

I must admit that I’m not as up to date on what is possible here as I would like to be. Do we have an idea on the limitations? For example, could we bring back a dream version of someone like General Kelteth or does it have to be someone we can confirm is alive in the Pale One’s dream world?

    Fourley,

You would have to be able to find the person in the dream in order to make the attempt.

We don’t know the specifics on how the Pale One created the dream versions of people that have the memories and personalities of their real world counter parts (such as dan Brock).

What we do know is that it took a good amount of time and a some kind of link to the person. This was done to help secure the dream worlds reality so it doesn’t shift and change as normal dreams do.

I suppose you could try and ‘conjure’ someone up, but as far as we know only the Pale One knows how to do that.

If we were to find a way, and had the ability, anyone conjured up in this manner would almost certainly be a reflection of the memories of whoever does the creating rather then the actual person. So they wouldn’t have any of their actual memories or personality, just an approximation based on memory.
