@grayThe Listrotov family does tend to have talent as seers. Letting her wear the ring couldn’t hurt, and if Sibella has that talent as well it may help.
Of course the dragon magic fueling the ring may not want to play nice with any of our Gypsy heritage, so who knows.
Yuri takes a sip from his bottle, muttering about dragons.

@herogoethLanre steps out from the kitchen as he carefully balances plates of roasted chicken and large bowls brimming with stew. He sets the food down on Valdimarr’s table and pulls out a chair for himself. He listens to discussion about prophecy with his lips pressed tight in a flat line, as if he is holding something back. When he finally takes a seat, the words bubble out of him as if beyond his control.
“The ring doesn’t work that way. I should know. It’s my ring. You don’t get visions from the ring after you take the thing off.”
The cartographer slides some food towards Valdimarr’s corner of the table and then dips a piece of chicken in his own bowl of stew.
“Herromere’s Staff. A Bloodline of Fortune Telling. The Dragon Ring of Seers. What’s happening here is that you are mixing magics, and hey, that will be fun while it lasts, but will probably end up with you bleeding from your eyes. Sure, maybe my ring triggered something in you, but Yuri hit it on the nose when he said that Dragon Magic and Gypsy Magic do not play nice, which is one of the myriad reasons that Sonya is only supposed to hang on to my ring temporarily.”

@bbraithShadows drip to the ground like rain drops as Oni appears carrying beaker of glycerin and water. Very Carefully with a pair of tweezers he removes the note from brazier, dropping it delicately into the mixture. Watching it absorb the glycerin, his eyes twinkle.
Allowing the charred remains to absorb as much of the liquid as possible, he fishes it from the mixture. With the tweezers he begins to slowly open it, spreading it flat on the bar.
Magnifying glass in hand he tries to read it.
He ignores everyone around him as he pours over the charred remains.

“First off Yuri, how do you know about my family history? I don’t believe that I have ever told anyone about that side of my life… Or anything about my past for that matter.
Secondly, Lanre, I know that you don’t get the visions after the ring is removed; that is why I’m suggesting that I wear it again…

@herogoethLanre will shrug his shoulders and dig into his stew, leaving Sibella’s remark hanging in the air. Everything about his posture suggests that this is a topic that he is reluctant to discuss in detail, but eventually he speaks up.
“Listen Sibella, I like you. And believe or not, I think of the Garadetzkis as friends. I’ve tolerated Sonya’s jokes about stealing that relic from me, even if those jokes have been in extremely poor taste. That ring is the most precious thing that I own, and make no mistake, it is also the most dangerous. I don’t want to see you burn yourself out.”

@zanSonya lifts her head from Sibella’s shoulder and leaned back in her chair as everyone started talking. She then leans forward and rests her elbows on the table at Sibella’s comment. She opens her mouth to speak but snaps her mouth closed at Lanre’s outburst.
Her eyes snap towards him and she glowers. She quickly stands up, her hand stops halfway to her dagger, and instead she bears her teeth and a angry output of breath leaves her mouth
She clenches her fist and without a word spoken turns on her heel and heads to the door, bumping anyone to side as she heads out.

Looks up with one giant eye peering through the magnifying glass “…Practicing”

I do appreciate your concern; but, if wearing the ring could result in potentially getting another vision that could help save Daryoon and Xukkuth… Doesn’t it seem worth the risk?PC: Rory Brooker

@valdimarrValdimarr will shift in his seat as the conversation continues around him and will turn to Sibella as she speaks to Lanre.
“They’ve actually got a good point about the mixing types of magic… if you recall mixing Pale Magic, Drift Magic, and Faded Realm Magic significantly adversely effected our attempt to drop the Pale Legion’s portal. I’m speaking of the artifact we activated that sent us to the Drift… we were still successful, but at a cost. If you think the cost is worth it, by all means go ahead, but it may not just effect you. You should consider that too…”
With his two cents being spoken, Valdimarr will turn to the food in front of him and begin slowly eating.

@herogoethLanre gives Sonya as wide-eyed look as she reaches for her dagger, as if he has just be surprised to find himself caged with a wild animal. He then shakes his head with mind frustration as she storms out of the Tavern, and takes a deep breath before turning towards Sibella.
“One thing we should also consider is this – Daryoon is the one who asked me to lend the Dragon Ring to Sonya in the first place. It may be that her having let you use it has caused a serious problem.”
“For all we know, Daryoon wanted Sonya to borrow my ring so that she could use it to save him from the terrible fate that you saw in the vision. But, of course, maybe not. We know that Daryoon wanted me to let her use the ring to help us defeat the Pale Ones. But beyond that, we don’t have a clue regarding his motivations.”

I’ve made it a point to know about other Families, your own included. I did not think it to be a sensitive subject.
Turning Lanre and Valdimar he continues;
It sounds like we should find out from Daryoon who should be wearing the ring, and what threats it could pose. Has anybody had contact with him recently? Sibella’s message got returned unopened, and seemingly tracked back to us.
Before we go any further though, Valdimar, can you tell if we’re still being scryed on?

“I’m pretty sure their successful scrying attempt ended when Sibella threw her note into the fireplace; I don’t feel anything anymore. If we’re really concerned, I can take some extra precautions, but it’s a little costly.”

“Tolerance, Lanre, poor taste?”
Murder will linger in his eyes as the gypsy glowers at the reborn, braver Lightsong. He rolls his eyes and slowly adopts a calmer demeanor. He speaks with clear, biting diction.
“Have you ever seen a hat eaten, Master Lightsong?”, he asks in a speculative, casual tone. “I’ve seen men do it.”
Turning lithely on point, the berskerser speaks – “Can you … … not?,” he sternly suggests to Oni, biting back harsher verbiage.
Pivoting further he speaks to the slow-chewing bald hero. “Obviously, it vasn’t the mixing at fault so much as that magic was involved so heavily.”
Back now shown to the crowd, he address the corner table. “That ring’s messages could be from Dream, Gabe, a Pale One, THE Pale One, Harrowmere, a copy of Harrowmere, or anything else. Ve cannot trust it. As you know, my favored solution is to d’ja..sund…destroy it. But until then, vat if we spared you this dramatic augury and pain and give the accursed thing back to Lanre.” He grunts.
Putting an arm around Yuri’s shoulder he says “Everyone knows the Listrotov’s’ve been seers!”

“It is not a sensitive issue, I just wasn’t aware that people knew of my family outside of home region. It’s just not something that I really advertise. I mean no offense, it’s just my family has been taken advantage of in the past with the gift; so I just try and be safe about who knows.”
Sibella then adresses the rest of the room
“I understand the dangers of the ring… Since the visions are not a certainty, maybe we should not focus on what could happen, but focus on what we can, hopefully, control. Which is trying to find Daryoon and Xukkuth.
I know that I struggle with going through scenarios and possibilities in my head instead of focusing on what is in front of me. If me wearing the ring could lead to injury to other people, that isn’t a risk I will take. If it were just myself, that would be a different story…
But I think that we should focus on locating them before doing anything else with the ring. I can send a message to Silmarwen to see if she has heard from Daryoon as of late.”
With that, Sibella returns to her seat, pulls out a fresh piece of parchment and a pen and begins to write.PC: Rory Brooker

@herogoethLanre will freeze in the face of Karkarov’s anger, like a rabbit who has just met eyes with a wolf. But after the moment of tension passes, laughter floods out of Lanre in a torrent.
“Fair enough, Karkarov. I deserve that. I suppose I’ve made more than enough jokes in poor taste. But did you see how Sonya looked at me when I mentioned the ring a few moments ago?”
The would-be bard glances towards the doorway, as if somewhat troubled. “I’ve been kind enough to lend her the most valuable thing that I own in all of the world, and sure I’ve made some jibes about taking it back, but as all can clearly see I’ve been more than willing to lend it into your family’s keeping for months on end.”
Lanre will cast his gaze around the room, as if looking for help. “I mean, when I came to own the Dragon Ring, I happily volunteered to lend it to the town should the need arise… but I’m starting to worry that Sonya really thinks of the ring as hers. And Orthia can tell you for certain, the magic of that ring does not mix with the magic of the ancestors.”
Seeming to shake himself out of a stupor, Lanre glances at his hat as if wondering what it would taste like, and turns to Sibella. “Regardless, my willingness to lend the ring to Sonya certainly extends to you, Sibella. The choice is yours. But you need to be aware that it is dangerous. Karkarov might be right when he says that you would be better off without it. It isn’t just an item that grants you portents and prophecy. The Dragon Ring can take things away from you, it can shape you, and it has properties that we have not yet discovered. There are risks.”
“I know it isn’t my place to try and declare what’s best. But please be careful. For now, I’ll let you and Sonya work out the details of who should wear it.”
