Valdimarr will speak quickly, leaving little chance for response, “I can take care of the Ritual and Scroll Artificing needs. Sonya, you’re an Armor Artificer aren’t you? Also, do you know if Anton is planning on being there? If not, we need to make sure we get Ferris to come with us. Orthia, you know Elisa and Rhowan better than I do. Will you reach out to them and try to convince them to come with us? If we can’t get them to come with us, do we know anyone outside of town that can help us with that?”

Theodin will sit and listen as Validarr speaks, waiting for him to finish,

“I would be hesitant to have one person fill multiple roles. I certainly don’t doubt your skill, but each person may be required to simultaneously perform their role. In that case, it makes it more difficult as you would potentially have to be casting a ritual while using your artifice to infuse.

Though it may not be the case, I would try and find someone to fill each role to make sure you are maximizing your effort.”

“Typically Tinkering is not needed in this kind of work I could fill the role of Ritual caster. I am just beginning to learn some of the rarer rituals but I should be able to fill in.”

Orthia shrugs as she takes a drink from her bottle of wine.

Sonya comes to sit at the table. She listens to the conversation as she pulls out a small pouch and dumps it’s contents on the table. A twisted silver earring.

She nods to Valdamir “Dah I’m an armor artificer, I’ll be there. Anton said he would be back just before Winterfest. Best get Ferris to join us. I know my Great Uncle Vladroff has been working in runes but I’m not sure if he is an artificer yet. I can look into it.”

She nods towards the earring on the table

“That’s called The Relic of Mighty Mending. It has many purposes but an important one is that it has the ability to mend magical golems. We’ll see if it can help but i’m sure putting The Guardian of Ku’Vhal back together wont be as simple as activating this thing.”

“You know now that you mention it I believe he told me he was ready to learn but needed a trainer. Maybe we can see if Daryoon would be kind of enough to stop by and train him. He may still be peeved at us, you know throwing him under the Pale One bus and all.”

Orthia will mutter under her breath about stupid Xukkuth as she drinks her wine.

Lanre spends a few minutes penning a message for the Northwatch boards, and listening keenly to the words of Theodan Saris.

“That makes sense, that they were forged after the destruction of the city. The story that I heard said that certain places that were highly secure were known to move from place to place during the days before Kvu’All’s destruction. I have been told that certain people were given tokens that let them find these places and Travel to them. If a similar power ripped through the inner city, I suppose it would be very important to create a way of navigating through the chaos.”

The cartographer will step away from his table to glance at the message boards, and then speak over his shoulder. “Dargum has responded. We should determine if we need to acquire additional materials & components. To my knowledge, our town is relatively low on Philosopher’s dust right now.”

An young man strides into the tavern, barely old enough to be more than a boy. His clothing is wrinkled, as if having been slept in recently. His human face is shows youthful stubble in uneven patches. At the sight of all the gathered heroes of Northwatch, the young man seems to flush a bit with pride, and then bends down to take a knee. His words are stumbled mutterings as he speaks reverently. “Mi’lords, mi’ladies. I come to you with a letter from Lord General Shaw. Though he remains genuflected for a long moment, his eyes seems to spread over each and every person, as if worshipfully memorizing their faces. When he notices the other War Reports, all gathered together later on the wall, he awkwardly stands and then draws forth his own report. Before long, it has been pinned up next to the others. When he turns around, the young man’s words seem to have caught in his throat as he looks upon the gathered heroes with pride. He gives one last deep nod of respect, and then he is back on his way out the door.

                  Heroes of Northwatch,

Who could have hoped for as many victories in this war as we have won for ourselves? The people of Terath are calling me the Hero General, Lord of The Pale Campaign. But I continue to insist that our victories are due to your efforts. Yours were to be the hands that gently tipped the scales into our favor. But instead you have hammered down upon them, wreaking havoc among the enemy forces, drawing mighty allies to our side, and gathering legendary relics for use in the war.

The East and The West, the places where our enemies were strongest, are now finally within our grasp. The siege of the Ebran Capital City continues, and goes well. And our new Skarren friends have truly turned the tide in Myzentius.

As before, I have written a summary of recent military progress below –

North: Pale Legion Forces have steadily trickled north, creating mighty encampments all along the Border of Dragonheld, and raiding in territories north of The Queen’s Lands, within the southwestern edges of Narovo. These Northern positions are now more fortified than ever, and it seems that Lord Firefoot is still reluctant to commit his forces, although he has reportedly sent a number of the Parthan Pridelords out in an attempt to keep Pale Legion troops away from tempting targets within his territory. Agents empowered by The Starfall initiative have begun to draft troops of their own from among the northern populace in order to raise a greater fighting force to oppose the Pale Legion, but such efforts will clearly not be enough. Rumors have it that Ambassador Ssky has finally begun to mobilize his troglodytes in the north, although recent sightings of the Skarren Shadowlord near Falion City has caused a minor degree of panic amongst his people. However, in the Northwest, the Redskull Orc tribes have begun to rise up against the Pale Legion, adding much needed strength. Westerland has also made forays into the north, striking against Pale Legion troops which sometimes roam on the Ebran side of their northern borders.

East: Every month, the eastern battlefields have seemed better and better off, as the forces of Chindius, Myzentius, and Hadrianus have continuously proven victorious. This month; doubly so. The Skarren StarGazer had taken to the field with the largest number of Skarren that has yet been seen in any one place. They gathered together in preparation for a nighttime assault against King Akida’s forces in Myzentius. The Pale Legion forces crept towards the massive Terathian camp in the dead of night, but the moment they attacked, it became clear that King Akida’s soldiers had been waiting in their tents, fully armed and armored, prepared for the attack. Glowing shields met the Pale Shadows in a flood, and in a complete surprise to the enemy, the impressive number of Skarren turned against The Pale Legion, fighting as allies of Myzentius. This was the most massive battle that has taken place in the East since the beginning of the war, and it was also the most devastating loss that the Pale Legion has suffered. Some rumors even suggest that a Pale One appeared at the edge of the battlefield, his majestic form seeming somehow hunched or reduced, but that he fled at the sight of the StarGazer leading the other Skarren against his own troops. The majority of the power of The Pale Legion has truly been broken in the East, although many strong enemy camps still remain.

South: Vorhil’il Celestion, Commander of The Rhouman Guard, brought his forces to bear against the Pale Legion forces, organizing a full assault. Xukkuth, WarWizard Talandar, and King Vol also participated in the fighting directly. Constant hit and run tactics were used in order to soften up the enemy and to spread confusion throughout their ranks. This was lucky indeed, as they were greatly needed when the sun was blacked out during the middle of the day, and they were all needed to push back against The Pale Shadows. Pale Legion attempt to spread outside of the Vast Forest in Haven were completely blocked by these efforts, with The Pale Legion and the Southern Terathians matching one another with each assault.

West: The Battle at Falion City was a marked victory for the Terathians, although many losses were suffered. The Pale Legion had committed themselves very heavily at the battle, and this loss has greatly weakened their hold on the West. The Margraves of Ebrus kept themselves very busy over this last month, waging war in the southern mountains near the Windward Spire. And the Monastery of Ten Thousand Lanterns has finally mobilized, destroying the mobile enemy troops with impressive skill. Additionally, Soldiers from The Queen’s Lands managed to defeat one of the Dirt Dwarf Chieftains just north of the Great River Adwine. The Pale Legion has suffered enough defeats in the west and have lost enough of their soldiers that their primary western encampments are finally beginning to appear vulnerable.

                  Legend –
Green Zones: Areas which could potentially be attacked by The Pale Legion, but which are firmly within the control of Terath’s United Forces and as such are currently under no direct threat. These regions are very well protected, and are not under any active risk of immediate loss to the enemy, generally speaking.

Yellow Zones: Areas which are thinly protected or mostly controlled by Terath’s Unified Forces, but are not well fortified or defended. These regions risk being targeted and lost to the Pale Legion. Skirmishes may occasionally occur in these territories, but military leaders do not consider these to be active conflict zones.

Orange Zones: Areas of active conflict where Pale Legion forces are currently attempting to claim control. Pale Legion encampments and troops movements persist regularly within these areas. Small battles between the Pale Legion and Terath’s Unified Forces are happening constantly here.

Red Zones: Areas which are firmly within the control of The Pale Legion. Enemy forces within these areas are well fortified, and greatly outnumber any local Terathian forces which might attempt to seize control. Note: There are also three red zones which are currently blanketed in red fog. These regions are the primary bases of operation for the Pale Legion. They are so well fortified that there is currently no avenue of attack traditional military action which would allow them to be retaken.

Sonya strides into the tavern and gently sets down the bottom half of a dragon skull statue.
She then addresses the tavern with a loud voice.

“We finally received the second part of the alabaster drake statue from the other adventuring town. We were able to get a hold of the top half several months ago. Does anyone know who currently has it?”

Lanre will glance up from a nearby table with dark rings around his eyes, and a weary expression dragging at his face. “No.”

He turns back to a massive pile of papers, hunching over them and peering at his work. “I think someone in Northwatch grabbed it last summer. …can’t remember who.”

Lanre will waltz on into the Tavern after returning from his adventures in Chindius. He smirks knowingly, and speaks loudly for all to hear.

“Ladies and Gentlemen, I have some good news. As most of you know, the MapMaker has asked his son Ferador to sacrifice me upon a dark altar as an offering. Also, more pointedly, The MapMaker and Ferador have offered to cut my throat in order to harvest the spiritual tethers which bind my soul to Cyrillia… or whatever world I was spawned from. Truly, my masters are generous.”

The cartographer will give the hint of a bow, as if performing on stage, and then continue. “Obviously, my oncoming death is the furthest thing from good news, so you must all be wondering. ‘Oh Dearest Lanre! How can anything good come from this terrible sacrifice!?’ Well, to put it plainly, Ferador thinks it might be beneficial to murder me in close proximity to the Pale One Drift Portal. He has offered to teleport there, behind enemy lines, where he will proceed to brutally stab me to death.”

Lanre saunters over to the bar, pulling his large leather mug up into his hand and helping himself with a long pour as he goes on. “This is where the good part comes in.” He pauses for dramatic effect. “I have convinced Ferador to take all of you there as well, and perhaps even to bring one or two other allies in as well. Rather than sneaking through enemy encampments, we’ll be able to start our journey less than a mile away from the target.”

                              Karkarov will smile grimly.

                              “You have my axe.”

The gypsy has a small collection of full and once full mugs of the Tavern’s finest nigh, and will profer one to the doomed Bard.

A shadow appears and then crumbles to the ground like shattered glass, revealing the the Shadow master, Oni ZenAku.

Scooping up a half empty mug from Karkarov’s table.

“Let us all drink in honor of our sacrificial lamb!!”

Oni, puts the mug to his face sniffing the liquid, pleased with aroma he swallows it all in three gulps.

With a light hand on Lanre’s shoulder, he softly speaks,

“It is a rare thing to die with such honor, often it is in our sleep with piss in our pants.”

                                Mumbling, “Karkarov’s drinks are strong.”

Turns to the crowd with a real flourish and a bow. The shadows swallow him up and he is gone.

A sudden burst of laughter from what appeared to be an empty table is herald to Malestrazza suddenly appearing, his invisibility broken. “Lanre!” He finally manages, “I have no idea what you’re going on about, but if this is truly going to be a funeral, as it sounds like it very well may be, I’d be honored to attend! Ah, and who better to leave your possessions (and a hit list in exchange for them) to than your favorite Xelaque assassin?” The dark elf beams at his jest, and at the ridiculousness of Lanre’s statement. “But truly, my friend, what exactly are you going on about?”

Sibella will look up from the book she is reading at her table in the corner

“Regardless of how much fun it is to focus on Lanre and his impending demise,” Sibella will raise her mug of ale to Lanre out of respect “Can we focus on the more important matter of going to the Pale One portal? Lanre, what do you mean by ‘perhaps bring one or two allies’? Who are these allies and can they be trusted? I don’t know about anyone else, but I would like as much information as possible before we teleport to this place. I need to know what we’ll be up against so I can protect those I care about… a brief look of sadness flickers across her face I need to protect them.”
