Sonya looks up from her notes and directs her statement to the Xelaque.

“I don’t know anything about Rezport but as for the war i think we wanted to go to Ethlenspire. I know Silmarwen was was interested in many things there. From what I heard there may be information there about the Island the Pale Ones are interested in. There is a barrier hiding the island from being found. If we can find a way to lower the barrier we may be able to find it.

At the mention of the spire, Nadia looks up from her drink.

“I, too, am extremely invested in going to Ethlenspire”

With no other explanation, she turns back to her conversation with Sveta. Instead, slams her fist down on the bar in frustration at Sveta’s sudden absence, who has seemingly gone invisible after the most recent sound of thunder.

“Third time tonight!” she yells, as she walks out into the rain.

Sonya laughs out loud as her cousin ducks into the rain.
She smiles to herself and she writes. She looks over her work for some time before going to the board and pinning her work.

These are the three prophecies given to us by the Argent Tides Prophet.

The Black Cathedral Rises. Shadowed. Sheltered. Held In Hand.

Stone Upon Stone. Built And building. Brick By brick. The Black Cathedral Rises.

The Black Cathedral Rises. A Pale Hand. A Dead Hand. The Artifact And The Monument.

Giving The Truth To The Lifeless. The Black Cathedral Rises.

The Black Cathedral Rises. Two Powers. One Source. A Key To Hold The Spark. A Gate To Let Loose The Flood. One To Be Kept. The Other To Be Found. The Black Cathedral Rises.

How shall the motionless find ways to move? Drifting. The ships were lost on the ancient seas. Drifting. Shall they move below, in deepest caverns? Drifting. A portal, built in haste. Drifting. As if it were a crutch for a cripple. Drifting. To bring The Pale Shadows. Drifting. Will the darkest be forbidden? Drifting. From a place long unseen. Drifting.

The Tree of Arcas sways in the fog.

The Primordial’s Child, lost when Hope was lost. The Primordial Elder enshrouded by Death. And Arcas wept.

The Tree of Arcas sways in the fog.

Consoled by The Great & True, Arcas was befriended. The Earth Walker. Deep Roots grew into the wide forests of Terath. And Arcas laughed.

The Tree of Arcas sways in the fog.

Scarred by the dark fire of The Pale Enemy, Arcas and Valencia fought side by side. Brimstone and Ashes. An open door. And Arcas roared.

The Tree of Arcas sways in the fog.

Sealing the breach, a seed was planted. Ages passed. The tree grew tall, and taller still. Druids came for wisdom. And Arcas spoke.

The Tree of Arcas sways in the fog.

A Black Tide Rises, and The Pale Enemy returns. A Pale Hand stirs at the Ethlin Sky. The weather is theirs. And Arcas trembles.

“The primordial child probably refers to the elders in Lairoth. There is one called death and hope. Hope it’s dead, or lost as referred. They get their power from primordials but are not.” Orthia will sip on a hot mug of cider.

An orc stumbles into the tavern. His clothing is an utter ruin, torn and vastly stained with crimson marks of bloodshed. His face is a dirty mess, and he looks exhausted. However, as he glances around the tavern, his lips spread wide in a grin, with jagged yellowing teeth poking out at odd angles. A moment later, he posts a letter to the wall of the Tavern. He will stop for a moment to swallow a flagon of water, and then to drown himself further in a mug of ale, and then he will be back on his way.

                        Adventurers of Northwatch,

Heroes of Northwatch, it is passed time that you received this report. This update is certainly more accurate than the last you were given, but still does not reflect the exact state of the various battles as they stand today. Too much seems to be shifting, and a simple map cannot reflect exactly what tactical disadvantages accompany the possibility of Pale Ones directly taking to the field of battle at any given time.

Still, I have never been more pleased that we chose to put our faith into Northwatch. Your destruction of the Domination Crown facility in Narovo and your successful efforts in the Ethlin Spire were truly great achievements. And yet this additional northern front gives us all pause. And I am afraid that things are more dire in Ebrus than they may seem. Our Ebran neighbors are in need of every bit of help that they can get, regardless of whether or not King West has invited it. As before, I have written a summary of recent military progress below –

North: Ever since the appearance of the Pale Legion army in the mountains near the trade city of Rezport, the number of battles in the northern territories of Terath has been increasing. Though Pale Legion forces have given Rezport a wide berth, the mountains remain firmly under Legion control.
While The Pale Legion forces were repelled at the Broken City, there are still constant skirmishes occurring upon the plains of the Queen’s Lands. Roving bands of Pale Legion forces seem to be attempting to disrupt supply lines and capture farmland. Meanwhile, other Legion forces have been pushing hard to the East, and have been steadily gaining a serious foothold in Northern Chindius. Reports also indicate that Pale Legion forces attempted to establish a camp on the southern Ethlin Isle, but were repelled. The Ethlin soldiers, operating from a newly established outpost, have been diligently patrolling the area against the event that the Pale Legion should try and attack. Lord Firefoot is said to have called for a gathering of his PrideLords in Narovo, but as of yet, the desert kingdom has offered no aid to their southern neighbors.

East: No kingdom has currently presented a strong enough front to fully expel the Pale Legion from their lands, at least not yet, but there may very well be such a chance for Myzentius in the near future. The fighting in the east seems to have been more favorable for the allied forces of Terath than they have been anywhere else. During this last month, the primary Pale Legion force which was working to separate Myzentius from Haven has been routed. King Akida sent his soldiers to march alongside the Argent Tide forces in order to confront the Pale Legion army, and then barbarian hordes from Hadrianus appeared as if from nowhere to flank the enemy, aiding in securing a great victory. In the aftermath of this battle, King Vol and King Akida met in the company of military officers from throughout Terath and discussed their aims for victory. Word of this meeting spread back with the officers as they returned to their theaters of war, considerably boosting morale.

South: Though there has been almost constant fighting in the south, the Allied Terathian forces have held their ground and prevented the Pale Legion from gaining ground outside of the Vast Forest in Haven. War Wizard Talandar and his apprentice Westmir have repeatedly lead strikes into the forest to scatter and destroy groups of Troglodyte soldiers preparing for mobilization. While the Pale One who was previously sighted in the vast forest has not shown itself again, many are concerned that Talandar is correct, and that the Pale One merely waits within the trees biding its time.
In the Bay of Hope, the newly adopted Starfall Initiative protocols have already borne fruit. Three dockmaster were found to be under the thrall of the Pale Ones, and a patrol of soldiers with the Shields of Light uncovered a nest of Pale Shadows hiding in the shallow waters where the river meets the bay. It seems they were diverting needed supplies coming from Akeron. With the trade routes now clear, many needed supplies can reach their intended battlefields.

West: The West has seen some of the hardest fighting to date during the war. Pale Legion forces converged from the North and West on Falion city, and a Pale One took to the field during the siege of the city. The Ebran forces still hold most of the inner city and palace, though they are hard pressed. We also have reports that a Wizard known as Nikarkus Gillen is in the inner city and has worked a ritual that disrupts teleportation magics In Southern Ebrus, Sir Veracyte led his remaining forces in a series of small victories. Though the region is still hotly contested, the Pale Legion’s power in the area has diminished.
In northern Westerland the Legion forces have pushed west along the great mountains that create the border of Dragonheld. Though the Orc tribes of Northern Westerland are fighting among themselves as much as against the Pale Legion, they have managed to keep the Legion from truly claiming that territory. At least for now.

                        Legend –
Green Zones: Areas which could potentially be attacked by The Pale Legion, but which are firmly within the control of Terath’s United Forces and as such are currently under no direct threat. These regions are very well protected, and are not under any active risk of immediate loss to the enemy, generally speaking.

Yellow Zones: Areas which are thinly protected or mostly controlled by Terath’s Unified Forces, but are not well fortified or defended. These regions risk being targeted and lost to the Pale Legion. Skirmishes may occasionally occur in these territories, but military leaders do not consider these to be active conflict zones.

Orange Zones: Areas of active conflict where Pale Legion forces are currently attempting to claim control. Pale Legion encampments and troops movements persist regularly within these areas. Small battles between the Pale Legion and Terath’s Unified Forces are happening constantly here.

Red Zones: Areas which are firmly within the control of The Pale Legion. Enemy forces within these areas are well fortified, and greatly outnumber any local Terathian forces which might attempt to seize control. Note: There are also three red zones which are currently blanketed in red fog. These regions are the primary bases of operation for the Pale Legion. They are so well fortified that there is currently no avenue of attack traditional military action which would allow them to be retaken.

                        In Service,

As breakfast is being served, a traveler enters the tavern. As he lowers the hood of his traveling cloak, a line of multicolored scars across his forehead becomes visible. As if a bejeweled circlet of some kind was burned into the flesh, and the gems left some kind of residue behind.

Theodin Saris will smile as he looks around the tavern, greeting all present. He will then go to the table where Valdimarr is sitting and take a seat next to him.

‘I got your message, seems you have everything you need for another trip to the central ruins and the Forge.’

                          He will say to Valdimarr,

‘What can I do to help?’

Valdimarr will perk up as Theodin enters the tavern and will stand to greet him as he nears the table.

“Well… as none of us have ever done this kind of thing before, general guidance on the proper steps to take would be nice. Are there any additional components we need to ensure are present and available? I assume that Artificers will be integral in the process, but specifically which types of artificers? Armor and Runic artificers; any others? Also, your other half that resides in Ku’Vahl has tampered with some of the pieces. He told me that he was removing flaws from the original design. According to him, the original Ku’Vahl Guardian couldn’t move very far from the forge; he was going to try and remove this flaw. I haven’t had the means to verify whether or not what he says is true. Do you have a way to verify this? The Prophecies say that bringing the Guardian back will be integral to our success in the war against the Pale Legion and I’d hate to have it messed up.”

                              Theodin will shrug his shoulders,

“I’m not entirely sure what is needed. We are in uncharted waters, and there isn’t any precedence to guide us. I agree with your assessment though. At minimum you will need a ritual mage, an armor artificer and a rune artificer. I imagine a weapon artificer and scroll artificer would help as well.

As far as components, you have the most important one already. I would plan on needing the types of components that are used for creating items. Red Ruby Dust, Adamantium, Dragon Dust, Mythril, Onyx, Tellurian Dust, Celestial Dust and Philosopher’s Dust.

I have some that I can contribute, but not much as I don’t think I am an artificer. You may want to call on your contacts an allies who are experts on artifice and see if they can offer any advice or help. I know your group deals with skilled people all the time, so that may help.

As far as identifying if anything has been done to the golem pieces, we could try legend lore, but that is hit or miss based on what has been done to them.”

                              Theodin will shrug again,

“Other than that, we may just have to roll with what comes. I would be ready for anything. Where the ruins and the Faded Shadow are concerned, I wouldn’t take anything for granted.”

Lanre will lean in to listen to the discussion between Valdimarr and Theodan Seris, scratching his bearded chin curiously.

“I’ll reach out to Dargum, and maybe see if he can offer a bit of advice.”

Pausing with a smirk as if just having heard a sweet bit of gossip, Lanre will reach into a pouch on his belt and place two small items on the table. The first is a small bronze token in the shape of a compass. The second is a shimmering wedge of silver, hammered thin and etched with the faint suggestion of a map.

“Seeing as you are a great and powerful Wizard with a deep interest in the Ruins, perhaps I could ask you a thing or two about these. They are Fragments of The Atlas Regalia of Ku’Vahl. The First Guardian made them long ago, but their power has since been broken.” The cartographer will lean back in his chair, wistfully gazing out the door. “I’m told that the First Guardian could possibly aid me in reforging them again, although I do not know exactly how.”

Orthia will walk out of the kitchen and bring a plate of breakfast to Theodan. She will smile, although a little sadly, at him and say under her breath that it is on the house.

“It is a big problem if we need a Rune artificer. We don’t have one that we regularly travel with. I believe Elisa and Rhowan are both rune crafters and I think at least both of them have reached at least the beginnings of artifice level. Should we reach out to them and see if they can make it?”

Orthia will walk back toward the kitchen and grab her bottle of wine and take a large drink from it. Being obvious to all that she is still drunk at the early hour.

                                    Theodin will look to Orthia,

“I would reach out and try to get someone. Having a rune artificer will definitely help, so it would be worth the effort of trying to get them there I would think.”

Looking to Lanre, Theodin will pick up the two items and examine them before putting them back on the table.

“No one knows for certain if the shifting nature of the inner ruins is something done intentionally or accidentally. Some histories indicate that it was a magical defense that the city had before it was destroyed, but never used.

Others say that powerful Wizards tried to teleport parts of the city away in order to save it from destruction, and they failed. Leaving parts of the city locked in some kind of eternal teleport ritual.

Either way, after the city fell those that survived had a hard time getting around. These were created to help navigate the ever moving streets. Though even fully powered, one could not always get to where they wanted to end up. The inner ruins are tricky, and seem to be out to deceive those that walk its streets.

There are 3 pieces to the set, and with each additional piece you are able to navigate more and more of the city successfully. Supposedly, the final piece can only be obtained by one who, ‘the city must obey because they speak the words’.

Your guess is as good as mine as to what that means. If you get the Guardian to a point that it can speak, I would ask it.’
