    Hello everyone!

Despite having been to an /impressive/ 2 events, my knowledge of lore and other in-game trivia is shamefully lacking.

Being a reformed fire cultist, my PC, Witold still carries some of the beliefs and practices from his past life. That being said, I’ve thought up some basic beliefs from his old cult so I can properly discuss my backstory, but I’ve hit a bit of a block when it comes to the Sun.

Given the Sun is literally a giant flaming ball of fire, I think it could be a very interesting thing to incorporate into my PC’s list of “Things I Care Deeply About” but I have a few concerns and questions.

Is it even called the Sun in game?
Is it tied to any specific class or organization already?
Is the Sun the focus of any school of magic or greater force? (Is it used as an incant?)

The plot team is preparing an answer for you.

For now, know that most do call it the Sun. 🌞

    Hello,

    To answer your questions:

Is it even called the Sun in game?

Yep, we like to keep things simple.

Is it tied to any specific class or organization already?

It is not tied to any classes. It is not tied to any organizations of note that are common knowledge.

Is the Sun the focus of any school of magic or greater force? (Is it used as an incant?)

It is not. Could it be used as a unique incant? Probably. Unique incants granted by class abilities or items are approved at the time they are obtained, but ‘I Summon the Sun’ is probably fine.

On a separate note, we would encourage you to submit a character history to mythicplot@gmail.com.

    Thanks,
    Steve C.

Steve’s post above is spot on, but its also worth noting that various tribal cultures have their own takes on things, which are definitely not universally accepted, but which are certainly fun to talk about, and which add flavor to the game.

For instance, we’ve put in stories saying that some Dwarves from the northern continent believe that the Sun is the fire that was stolen from the very first forge in the depths beneath the mountains, which was thrown into the sky so that people on the surface could enjoy the same light and warmth that the dwarves had deep in their underground foundries.

As another example, I play a character who says that all Water & Air magic come from a magical realm called Hiberheim, while all Fire & Earth magic come from the realm Magnus Infernus. Is my character right about that? Almost certainly not. But it adds some great themes to my character’s style of spell-casting and role-play. And it is definitely fun to talk about.

So if you decide that your character’s cult believes that the Sun is the mother of The Monstrous Fiery Herald Hephestion, that’d be really cool. Or if the cult believed that this world is merely the shadow cast by the “real” flame world that most people think of as the Sun, that’d be equally awesome. I’d say go for it!

For most people in the world, however, the sun is the sun, and the moon is the moon, and while they may have vague feelings about their mystical power, they don’t have any special names or history. They’ve just always been there.
