Ebrus

Common Knowledge

A central kingdom of Terath, located on the western border of The King's Lands.

Ebrus is primarily a militaristic kingdom, with relatively firm views on gender roles. It is expected that at least one male of each generation of each family will join the armies of Ebrus. The other males are expected to serve in a position which will support basic life, such as black-smithing or farming. Females are expected be domestic, by doing things such as laundry, or other activities, such as farming. In addition, families are encouraged to be moderate-to-large in size, with 3-8 kids each.

Within the kingdom, it is considered "woman's work" to handle money. Buying and selling with currency (rather than bartering for or exchanging items) is considered a lesser profession and only women (or poor and desperate men) engage in merchanting or street vending. Regardless of a clear lack of progressive views on gender, Ebrus is an extremely cosmopolitan kingdom; welcoming openly members of every race and species equally. The Kingdom as a whole also has a fair amount of respect for the Path of The Nightwalker, which is followed by the majority of Ebran Knights, whose numbers were significantly diminished during The War of Kings.

It has been proclaimed that the Ebran Mercenary Guild does not serve the crown directly, although their mercenaries frequently serve Ebran national interests. There are three individuals suspected of being the true leader of the guild - A human noble named Lord Sullivan, a Troglodyte known only as 'Pierce', and a Hrungnor Dwarf name Visp Rasaek.

Relations with other nations

Westerland: Ebrus and Westerland have traditionally been at odds. Yet with the rise of King Mutt The Black Titan, who is known to follow The Path of The Nightwalker, the relations between the two kingdoms is ever improving.

King's Lands: Ebrus had always been rebellious against the standard reign of the Queen, but with Kajorelle's taking the crown, they became primarily an independent nation as much as possible within the laws and eventually entered into bloody war with the people of The King's Lands during The War of Kings. King James West has continued a tradition of independence even after the fall of High King Kajorelle.

Hadrianus: Ebrus has a respect for the strength of the kingdom and attempts to maintain amiable relations with them. King West was the first official to recognize Embla Vanir's claim to the high throne of Terath, in exchange for her recognition of his own claim to Ebrus' throne.

Myzentius: Ebrus finds their underhanded ways distasteful, considering itself an honorable kingdom above officially recognizing mercenaries as part of their kingdom. However, Ebrus has always remained on friendly political terms with Myzentius; taking full advantage of their services within the letter of the law.

Akeron: Ebrus feels a fair amount of disdain for the kingdom of Akeron due to the kingdom's history of prioritizing merchant businesses and international trade over more honorable pursuits. However, Akeron was an ally during The War of Kings, which has improved the relations between the two kingdoms in recent years. Ebrus was one of the primary supporters of the Sons of Akeron during the reign of the Seer.

The Golden Era & The Red Era

Ebrus existed under the leadership of the Teague bloodline in what was known as The Golden Era of Ebrus for hundreds of years during the earlier portion of Queen Octavia's reign. During this era the Teague family forged the traditions of racial tolerance throughout all of Ebrus, welcoming people of every cyclic species to take part in the governance of the land. Additionally, the Teague family created various traditions which focused on architecture and the formation of grand structures. Even today, over a millenium since the start of the Golden Era, The people of Ebrus value the fusion of form and function. They enjoy the creation of grand and ornate buildings, which also serve every essential function. Wealthy families often sponsor the creation of great buildings to draw fame and glory for their descendants - grand buildings make grand statements.

It is said that every ruling member of the Teague Bloodline, beginning with Baron Jacen Teague, possessed draconic heritage to some degree. This draconic blood gave pause to many cyclic mortals throughout Terath, and eventually became a source of trouble for the Teague family.

In an era weary of dragons, Rodrick Falion began to plant seeds of doubt within the minds of the people. Rodrick first waged a political campaign with the common people to arouse fear and concern that dragons would rise to rule them once more, due to the manipulations of their dragon-blood minions. It wasn't long before the people were pointing a finger at Baron Teague himself. Soon the commoners and nobles alike began to doubt their baron, causing great tension and anarchy within the barony. Rodrick then stepped forward to present himself as a source of change, saying that his purity of blood could bring the unity to Ebrus that no dragon ever could. After an official challenge, approved by the Queen under the duress of a barony anxious for blood, Rodrick defeated Baron Teague and stepped forward to take the title of Baron himself. Rodrick Falion was widely considered to be a champion and sired four children during his rule, three sons and one daughter. of the people until his unfortunate passing, due to natural causes, at the age of 72 and passing the leadership of the barony onto his eldest son, Charles.

Charles Rezak Falion, known now as Falion The Red, took the title of baron as a skilled leader at the young age of 14. He was seen as wise beyond his years and a capable leader and ruled as the Baron of Ebrus for approximately 775 years; having been known to believe in strength and justice in all things and following the Path of the Night Walker through and through.

The period during which Falion The Red ruled as the Baron of Ebrus is widely referred to as The Red Era. It was during this time that the Barony of Ebrus was elevated, becoming the Kingdom of Ebrus with King Falion at its head. The Red Era ended shortly after the elevation of the barony, ending with Falion's banishment by The Great and True Dragon Cureanon. at the conclusion of The War of Kings; when Falion The Red lost in a duel against High King Arador Kajorelle.
