December 25th, The Soul Forge

The recently discovered Archway, nestled within the mountains that border the Empire of The Drake, has indeed proven to lead to an island of unknown location. Where fog had once hung heavy upon the small isle, now clear skies have revealed a brilliant and shining city across the sea far to the south, marked by what appear to be gargantuan statues too distant to see clearly.

At the center of the isle itself, courageous adventurers from many lands have begun to gather to examine a platform, heavily engraved with runes that audibly hum with magical power. Those daring enough to step into the center of this platform have found themselves re-forged in a way that reaches to the depths of their very souls. Vanishing in an explosive burst of light, these individuals reappear as if manifesting from a Circle of Life; clearly recognizable as the person they were, but often changed greatly in personal talent, skill, and even race.

This platform has become known as The Soul Forge.

Brave folk from both Lairroth and Terath have found that they were able to journey to this Soul Forge by similar Archways existing on both continents, and have discovered that their strengths and abilities on this isle are based upon where they have traveled from, rather than where they have traveled to. An atmosphere of tranquility resides over the isle, and as of yet, even those with murder in their hearts have found that their yearning for violence has departed whilst they stand upon this mysterious island.

While there is no Archway or Portal leading away from the isle, one merely has to set foot upon the waters at the shore to find themselves instantly transported back to the Archway from whence they came. Reaching the Archway, and returning from it, however, is no small feat. One must first safely ascend through the mountains, and then test their strength and bravery as they travel the uncharted passes back down and away from the dangerous Empire of The Drake. Such is a journey that only the bravest of adventurers or the most dedicated of sages is willing to undertake.

January 26th, Wintefest and The White Alchemist

Wintefest Celebrations in Greymoore City have begun to wind down as the common folk begin to return to their everyday tasks. Nobles from the Heartland countryside, neighboring kingdoms, and untamed wild-lands still keep the candles burning late as their reverie stretches into the following week, but the poor and unfortunate people of Greymoore City have been visited by a threat that could crush the jubilant spirit from even the most any joyous celebrant.

Rumor has it that one of the largest charitable organizations within Greymoore City has become the target of a monstrous threat by a figure which is slowly becoming known amongst the poor districts of the city as The White Alchemist.

January 29th, Vrogosh and The Embassy of Nocturne

An announcement has been made regarding the blight in the northern forests of Vrogosh. With terrifying efficiency, it seems that the agents of Nocturne have been able to take control of the pools of deathly power which had been slowly spreading death to the people of the Inner Wilderness. Nocturne has made an arrangement with Vrogosh, establishing a permanent Embassy of Nocturne in the now haunted northern forest, from which they will continue to contain the necromantic energies found there.

February 1st, The Voice of The Argent Tide

It has been over six months since the return of the Prophet of The Argent Tide. Lord Sebastian Patris, still a young heir to one of the Seven Moons of Calien, has become the loudest voice for reform and investigation amongst the ruling families of the coastal kingdom. Travelers from the east report that three of the seven ruling houses of Calien now stand behind the words of The Prophet of The Argent Tide, and a future free from supernatural influence seems closer than ever. In truth, a fair number of the Calien nobility remain hesitant to throw their power behind a force a passionate as The Argent Tide, lest their allegiance to this organization disrupt established trade relations and shift the balance of power away from their own bloodlines.

What cannot be denied is that things are better in Calien for the common men and women of the land. There is less fear amongst the people, and more hope that future events such as The Dark War, The Betrayal, and The Plagues can be avoided as long as The Argent Tide has a voice in the world.

February 4th, The Howls of Greymoore City

Small fires burned in the low districts of Greymoore City last night as a nightmarish wolf-creature left a swath of destruction on his way towards the nearest gate. Though a fair number were injured, only a few were slain during this ferocious rampage.

Some account report that this was a mighty were-wolf, while more direct witnesses claim that this attack was made by Kane Blackmoon, The Howler. As a hero of Vrogosh, Kane Blackmoon was directly involved in the conflict against the Parthan Warlord Firefoot only months ago, and now speculation flies heavy as the people of The Heartlands are forced to ask if direct war between Vrogosh and The Heartlands is more imminent than previously assumed.

February 7th, The Inferno Returns

Whispers in Greymoore City indicate that a powerful entity known as The Inferno has escaped from imprisonment. The Orc known as The Inferno was a powerful ally in the struggle against The Usurpers during the dark war, but he was more-so known for his slaughtering and robbing of Calien Merchants in days during the initial re-establishment of The Heartland Kingdom.

It is said by some that The Inferno is not an Orc, but rather, is a mighty demon in disguise. Others say that he is a Thane of unmatched skill, and a few have even claimed that he is Vrogosh The Ressurector himself, returned through the mists of time. None of these claims seem to have any weight behind them, but what is known is that this dangerous criminal helped to turn the tide in The Dark War, and then mysteriously disappeared from all known view, until now.

February 10th, Cerulean Havoc

Word flies of an attack on the Cerulean Gate of Il'Ithoria. Some say that a legion of terrible creatures rose from the Under Realm to destroy the gate, others speak of a group of Obsidian statues being led by a white elf.

While the Cerulean Enclave and the order of Dhask refuse to comment on most rumors, they have worked to assure Lairroth that the gate was unharmed.

February 16th, Malkavon The Mad

Malkavon The Mad, a torturer and mad-man, was captured today by the Greymoore City Watch. He was caught in a room of a local tavern in Greymore City with four victims who had been tied up and viciously brutalized.

Rumor has it that his victims were minor footpads and other lesser criminals which he had captured with the intent of rehabilitating. When discovered, witnesses report that Malkavon was extremely cooperative, if still somewhat disappointed that his efforts had been interrupted.

The injuries inflicted upon his victims are such that it seems they will survive, though it is unlikely that they will ever recover from the malicious and horrid exertions of Malkavon The Mad.

March 14th, Rumors of a Northern War

Rumors of high tension flow south from Moradrim. In the wintery north, accusations fly regarding who is to blame for the attempted assassination of Prince Jossua Falconcrest nearly a year ago. It seems that a recent meeting between kingdom officials laid the blame for this murderous deed at the feet of Warlord Bearns, a loyal native of Moradrim who is known for his brutal discipline and his refusal to make lasting alliances with the his neighboring territories.

Certain members of the Heartland Royal Court have been quoted demanding the warlord’s head on a platter, and while Queen Serena Falconcrest has laid out intentions for further investigation and diplomacy, word of a possible war has begun to spread throughout the populace.

March 24th, Into Nocturne’s Chill Embrace

Hostilities between The Kingdom of Nadrak and The City of Night are on the rise as a number of ostracized and downtrodden students of magic have begun to abandon their militant homeland and accept the recent offer to become students at the University of Nocturne.

The people of Nadrak bid good riddance to many of these arcanists and necromancers, placing the blame for the numerous cataclysms of the past on those who have wielded powerful magic. While the ruling Stratocracy seems uncomfortable allowing Nocturne to amass a host of powerful mages, especially if composed of many of their own people. Indeed, the Kingdom of Nadrak has begun to show great displeasure with these deserters, hunting and executing those Nadrakis treasonous enough to have cast aside their loyalties to become citizens of Nocturne.
