June 9th, Through the Elven Forest

The western army of the Drake Lord has continued its slow but ceaseless out from the borders of The Kingdom of Nadrak and into a region bordering the realms of Il’Lithoria and Vrogosh.

The Drake Lord’s western army suffered small losses to attrition just after fording the river which lies at the border of Il’Lithoria and entering the Elven Forest. Scouts have reported that poisonous plants and ill water plagued the army on their first day within the Elven Forest, and a small number of Goliaths were found with their throats slit at dawn on the following morning. After losing a handful of soldiers to a continuous barrage of bothersome strikes from unseen archers within the forest, the invading army turned north, leaving the poisonous forest, the dark trees, and their defenders behind.

Thus far, the Drake Lord’s army has only seen resistance from either kingdom when entering into the Elven Forest or The Inner Wilderness, and has otherwise been left entirely alone, though bands of marauding monstrous creatures which roam the area still make strikes at any who straggle behind.

July 1st, Darkness Gathers in Falconreach

Creatures of death and darkness seem to stalk the area surrounding the Adventuring Outpost of Falconreach. The word is slowly spreading that this adventurer’s haven nestled in the southern reaches of The Western Fury Mountains is a dangerous place to visit.

Those who dwell within the Adventuring Outpost will notice that, sometimes, open flames seem dimmer than they should be, and that the cries of the living dead can be heard almost immediately in concert with the setting of the sun. Any who have personally witnessed the casting of necromancy, or have summoned the dreaded magic themselves, have seen that the shadows swirl most unnaturally in the presence of any necrotic magic. In some rare cases, the shadows almost seem to take shape, as if they might rise from the ground and come to life.

July 31st, The Changing of Rhoum

Like wildfire, rumors spread concerning a powerful pulse of magical energy which originated from the ancient ruined city of Rhoum. Commoners and scholars whisper theories to one another in taverns and libraries across Lairroth. Some fear that The Winds of Change are beginning to falter, while others whisper that the Arch-Lich Tal Sigor has finally claimed the dying ruins of Rhoum as his own. Hopeful rumors assure that the fabled Heroes of Light have returned to do battle with The Drake Lord, whilst the politically minded suspect that Nocturne may be expanding their territory, and those who have visited the ruin have discovered that the massive gates of the City of Rhoum, which once stood open, are now solidly closed.

Whatever the truth, it is certain that something of great import has occured. Wealthy merchants, knights, adventurers, and collectors across Lairroth have reported that items originating from the city of Rhoum appear to have lost their power. This change has effected The Heartlands the most, as the majority of magical items from the ancient ruined city have remained within The Heartland Kingdom. Most dreadful of all is the loss of The Chalices of Life- rare artifacts from Rhoum which have been used throughout the Heartland Kingdom to bring life to the dying and remove the dreaded afflictions from the sick.

August 8th, Lost Beyond The Gate

A quiet fear was confirmed in the first week of August regarding certain travelers who had used the Cerulean Gates.

Word has begun to spread far and wide that all travelers in the midst of transportation through the Cerulean Gates at moment of the magical pulse from the City of Rhoum never arrived at their destination Gate. Over a week has passed while use of the Cerulean Gates continued as normal, but as worry and dread take hold of those use the gates a primary mode of transportation, travelers have begun to fear becoming somehow lost in the unknown places between.

None have been able to confirm the truth about precisely where the lost travelers have gone, or if they even continue to exist at all. In some cities, travel through the Cerulean Gates has slowed to a trickle, although it has recently been reported that leaders amongst the Cerulean Enclave and the Order of Dhask have been actively and publicly using the Cerulean Gates in order to prove that they are safe for any who would wish to travel through them.
