It all began a few weeks ago when a strange old man stumbled into our town asking for help. Several of towns people, myself included, rushed to assist him. I noticed that the old man had an odd mark on his left cheek resembling a setting sun. It had golden beams radiating from a crimson center. As I arrived, he grabbed the front of my tunic and said, "Thank goodness you are here. You must help me!" After which an identical mark appeared on my left cheek. Fearing that I had been infected with some disease, or worse, cursed with tainted magic, I sought out the help of Mistress Dassonac. She was able to determine that there was no disease present and that the mark was indeed magical in nature but that there was no adverse effect from its presence. By this time, several other townsmen had received the "sun" mark. They were, Guildmaster Daryoon, a Wood-elf named Catalyst, a Parthan named Mynx, the Gypsy Aiden Dreamseer, and an Elf named Na'vin, formerly known as Fallen. Na'vin had received a box from the old man before he died with instructions that he was to lie to rest four ancient Elfin Spirits. The rest of those who received the mark were to serve as Na'vin's protectors as he was not allowed to shed blood until the spirits were at peace. So began our quest. The quest involved finding four tablets (one for each spirit) and performing a ritual to lie the spirits to rest. A member of the party would fall unconscious and regain consciousness with specific information leading to a tablet. As we set out upon our journey we encountered a lone Gargoyle. We were forced to slay the beast.

A creature of the forest that I have only heard of in legends guarded the first tablet. It was in the form and likeness of a colossal tree. It permitted us to take the tablet but we were not to touch the gems and treasure in the lake surrounding it. We were lucky to escape with our lives after the Wood-elf asked the ancient Tree Ent if she could make it into a house. I still wonder what in the world was she thinking. The second tablet was hidden deep within a dark and foreboding forest. Posted around the edge upon large spikes were the heads of trespassers. Some of the heads were so large that they required two of the sturdy spears to hold them. Using my experience in tracking and woods lore, I led the party to the entrance of a cave. I could tell by the surrounding signs that there were Ogres inside. Attempts to reason with the Ogres failing, we attacked and destroyed them. Searching through the filth and debris of the cave, Guildmaster Daryoon found the tablet and a small chest of treasure. The next stage of our quest led us to the lair of two repulsive hags. With whom Na'Vin was able to trade a few gems for the tablet that we sought. It was here that we were set upon for the second time by a lone gargoyle. As we destroyed this second beast, I could not help but feel that they were following us for some unknown reason. The next vision led the party toward and immense mansion. However, when we arrived there, all that remained of the mansion was burnt timbers, rubble and a crazy old man. Here again, we were attacked by a lone Gargoyle. In an attempt to discover why they kept attacking us I asked it, "Why do you keep attacking us? What do you want?" Finally the Gargoyle answered, "Death" and would say no more. We were forced to destroy this creature again. I say "again" for I feel that it was the same Gargoyle attacking us each time. To this day I can only wonder at what its reason could have been. From the Old Man, we were able to obtain half of the broken fourth tablet. I don't know by what means, as I was busy entertaining the Gargoyle. Our search for the other half of the Fourth tablet led us a den of Glooms. Winning that battle required all of our skills in both War and Magic. We were all exhausted. With the final component needed for the ritual in our possession, we set about performing the ritual. Since I have no great understanding of Magic, I will not try to explain the details of the ritual. Suffice it to say that at its conclusion, all of the spirits of the ancient Elf tribe were finally able to find peace. While there was no great reward for the quest as far as treasure, I do feel a certain sense of satisfaction in being able to have taken part in the Grand Adventure that it was.
